Virtual Duathlon - what a wild week!

30 Oct 2022 by Ian Barnes

Today our first event of the year wrapped up, the Central Storage Virtual Duathlon . In what were some wild conditions over the past 10 days, it was fantastic to see 36 participants brave the weather and take to the course, including 2 teams and 5 participants in out short course event which was great to see.

Some hot times have come in for this event, with Jarrod Johnson setting a cracking pace to start the season and Iā€™m sure he will have a target on his back now heading into Killarney. It would have been a fantastic challenge if we were in person with 5 guys all clocking in the 42 minutes! It comes as no surprise to see our world champion Jenny Dowie taking out the ladies sprint category again, followed in closely by Ilana Kelly and Karen Benson who are both on comeback from injuries. Great to see ladies ā€“ and love to see >40% women participating in our events once again! #thisgirlcan

It was great to welcome 7 first timers to our club who participated in this event, keep an eye on your email later in the evening ā€“ for your discount code for a FREE short course entry into our Killarney Tri on Sunday 27th November.

Lori Cameron, Jess McKenzie and Matt Smith were all drawn as Spot Prize Winners ā€“ please come and see us at Killarney to collect your prize packs šŸ™‚

Big thanks to Central Storage for their sponsorship of this event and our club over many years, and to South West Sport for having us as part of the South West Games this year.
