Mini Series - Round 2 ✔️

18 Jan 2020 by Ian Barnes

We have just wrapped up Race 2 of our Blue Hole Mini Series which is brought to you with the support of a Wannon Water ripple effect community grant.

51 participants took part in Race 2 – how good is that – so great to see people being active in our great outdoors, even if the weather wasn’t quite as kind to us this week. Lots of new faces to our club having a go which is great to see and a great mix of individuals and 7 teams on course tonight.

After the swim in the river, the bike course a little challenge with the ‘small’ hill up to the whale platform and back … 3 times over 🚴🏿‍♀️🚴🏼 Lots of different bikes out on course – racing bikes, mountain bikes – kids bikes, a reminder that NO special equipment is needed for any of our tri club events. A big shout out to Todd Dymke – who for the second week in a row had bike troubles – last week losing his chain, and this week having a peddle fall off …. talk about spirit of our club, Todd continued on pushing his bike around the run course, and balancing on one peddle down the last hill back to transition. Amazing effort Todd 👏

The run back over the bridge a nice end to the event – with everyone pleased with their efforts as they crossed the line. For some they were aiming to better their week 1 time, for others their goal was to try something new – and good on you, you did it 🙌.

Naticia Varley was first across the line for the ladies for the second week in a row and Spencer Edwards from Camperdown first across the line in the males.

Thanks to those who helped set-up, our water safety, marshalls, bbq cooks and those who stayed back to help with pack up. We also want to thank all the supporters on course and to everyone for embracing the spirit of our club and providing a supportive and fun environment for everyone!

See you all back for Race 3 next week – the last in this series before we look forward to the Foreshore Triathlon on 9th Feb 😃
