This year the club had the honour of bestowing Leigh McCarthy with a Life Membership for his long and tireless work for the club. Leigh’s extensive association with the club has involved the position of Club Secretary for many years, Race Director at more events than we can count including numerous Foreshore Triathlons and working tirelessly in the background and on race days to ensure seamless, safe events for all to enjoy.

Leigh was instrumental in the building of the junior development squad which is still going today and worked with many junior triathletes as they progressed through the age groups. Leigh was also a key figure in the creation and success of the Sufferfest Long Course triathlon. Leigh also used his extensive knowledge of the sport to coach others in the club and his swim coaching instrumental to many of us in our triathlon development.

Thank you Leigh for everything you have put into the club, the club would not have achieved the success it has without your hard work and dedication over many years. Well done!
